Yes it gets even faster, with the "brushless" Traxxas Slash VXL racing rc truck!  Right out of the box with its included 7 cell NiMi battery pack this baby goes 40mph plus!  Upgrade the battery to a 11.1 volt Lipo and in a snap you have a model capable of 60mph!  The VXL version even comes with a 2.4ghz FM radio and ready to rip pavement or dirt right out of the box!

If you're into contest racing, the Traxxas Slash VXL version fits into the pro (or modified) classes with its extreme power, brushless motor.  If you choose to upgrade to a lipo battery, Traxxas does it right with battery cut off protection, so you don't have to worry about reducing the lifespan of lipo batteries with this smart, waterproof technology.

Please be aware, just as a starter recommendation only, for novices we recommend you start and run the Traxxas Slash VXL with the free battery pack included first, for at least 5-10 good runs, until you get used to the handling of this vehicle prior to upgrading to a more powerful 11.1 volt battery.  These vehicles are incredibly durable, swift, and can handle numerous crashes without breaking, and replacement parts are easily available in the event of a breakage, however because 60 plus mph requires more control and skill, it will cause a novice driver to replace parts more frequently due to crashes at this speed placing more impact stress on the parts.  To this date I have never broken a Traxxas Slash with it's stock battery (which runs 40mph) and I have crashed it about 30 times this summer (and I mean hard crashes), however running them at 60mph, these forces and stresses will be even harder.  A driver I race against upgraded to a lipo 11.1 volt battery and it takes off like a rocket, however he crashes more often and had to replace parts a few times.  The part cost was $4.00 for the first and $8.00 for the second breakage event.  He has crashed it more than 100 times and had to replace parts only twice on this Slash VXL, so not so bad considering the amount of times he's crashes at such high speeds!  Things to watch for are running full boar and hitting a hard unmovable obstacle such as a large parking block or high curb.  If you're into parking lot racing, watch out for those.

Either way no reason to fret though.  If you're new to Traxxas, you'll see right away replacing parts isn't an issue for most (even kids).  The parts are easily available and affordable and you can replace them with just the free mini tool kit that comes with the Traxxas Slash VXL.  Most parts are replaced within 10 minutes, using just the allen wrench tools and mini 4-way socket wrench included for free with the vehicle.
