If you're looking for the fastest, then the Traxxas Rustler VXL "brushless" version can fit the bill.  Straight out of the box this fully assembled version is ready to hit speeds 45 mph with just the free battery pack that comes with it or 70 mph plus simply by using a 11.1 volt lipo battery!  Because the Traxxas Rustler VXL uses a brushless motor and a more powerful ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) you can use batteries of higher voltage and amperage without hurting the Velineon 3500 Brushless motor and ESC system.  Most RC car enthusiasts will say this is more of a buggy platform then truck, so this one fits in the "truggy" class which is an awesome hybrid between truck and buggy!

The Traxxas Rustler VXL as well as in the more affordable xl-5 "brushed" version have a wide stance to also improve handling and running the tighter curves at faster speeds.  Because it sits lower to the ground and has a wider stance this design helps a lot with preventing flip overs while turning.  Don't be too confident though, just as in any rc car, running at 70mph still requires skill and careful driving to prevent crashes and to win the races.

You can't get much faster out of the box as the Traxxas Rustler VXL, normally rc cars and trucks need serious upgrades to accomplish this 70 plus miles per hour feat, so if speed on pavement and dirt tracks is your thing, then this one is a great choice.
