The Traxxas Bandit XL-5 rc car is for those that still prefer the buggy looks and feel.  This one is very fast and handles both on road and off road tracks pretty well.  THe Traxxas Bandit "XL-5" version is the more affordable version, only difference being a less powerful brushed motor and lower amperage electronic speed controller and typically these XL-5 versions from Traxxas come with an AM radio vs. the more expensive FM radio transmitter.

Don't let the lower Traxxas Bandit XL-5 price tag fool you!  Even with a brushed motor setup, this buggy reaches 35+ miles per hour!  This was nearly unheard of in RC cars 20 years ago and this affordable hobby grade RC car does it easily and affordably.

For those speed demons, also check out the faster Traxxas Bandit VXL (brushless version) which reaches speeds in excess of 70 miles per hour!  Yes the more expensive version takes off like a jet on wheels!
