RC Car Electric Motors
The RC motor is, doubtless, the most important component, the heart, of an Electric RC Car. If you bought a toy-grade Electric RC Car or mid-grade Electric RC Car, that don't have replaceable motors, you don't need to bother about the motor at all.
If you love to assemble a car from a Do-it-yourself kit, or to upgrade a hobby-grade Electric RC Car, you need a good motor. You would decide on the motor depending on the type of car you have, its shell, the level to which you currently want to upgrade, and your budget.

Once you have made the decision, the motors are easily available in hobby shops or online shops. The next important thing one needs to know is the maintenance of the motor. Electric RC cars, blissfully, gather much less dust than their Nitro counterparts. Still, the motor regularly needs to be cleaned with motor cleaning solution to remove dirt and dust.
The motor brushes need regular oiling for proper functioning and occasional replacement. Though easy, if you can't do such things, a service center may help you. There are also expensive brushless motors to eliminate this issue. They cost a few hundred dollars compared to a hand wound simple motor for less than $40.
After a long run, it's very necessary to cool down the motor. The bearings and subsystems may just heat it up more, because they are not as sophisticated as their real counterparts. An over heated motor, if not cooled well, may result in demagnetisation of permanent magnets in the motor stator. To avert such disasters, some powerful and large motors in RC cars come up with cooling fins and fans, a heat sink. So, ask more about the internal details when buying an Electric RC Car or a motor for it.
After all, as it is the motor that gives traction power to an Electric RC Car, any other part or system that adversely affects the car's speed and acceleration would increase load on the car motor, reducing its life. So use good friction race tires, keep the car tidy and well oiled and always drive on clean tracks or surfaces.
Last but not least, it is important to remember to never run a new car with full speeds from the start. Instead, start from a slower speed and gradually increase to full speeds to break in the motor, particularly for assembled hobby grades.
