The vintage Kyosho Javelin was a 4WD R/C buggy that was meant to excel on off-road tracks such as dirt, sand, and gravel terrain.  It was a real shreader and great off-road performer, however not as many of these were made, so it's pretty rare to find them today.  Another reason they so are valuable with collectors and their high value today.   A Mabuchi 540 motor was included in these models for speed and power.  As in the Optima, the Kyosho Javelin also used a 4WD chain drive system design.  As you can see, the vintage style 

The main cosmetic difference between the vintage Kyosho Javelin and Optima is the open roll-bar design with nerf bar, versus the Optima's more solid body approach. The Kyosho Javelin also stands out with a vibrant orange, reddish-orange, or green colored body designs.
